More Disneyland Goodness

I’m not sure what is up with this Disneyland kick. I think this is the third entry I’ve made about Disneyland, and I’ve never even been there… (nope, just checked – it’s only the second.)

Anyway, apparently there is an exclusive club at Disneyland called Club 33. This web site has a scanned in copy of the 1967 prospectus for new members – the only brochure Disney ever produced about the club.

There is also a Flickr Club 33 tag with images from the current club.

Interesting.

Selling the K bike

I have finally decided to try and sell my K1100RS.

I have had a love/hate relationship with this motorcycle ever since I bought it, but I think it’s time to sell it.

The main issue I have with it is that I get really sore shoulders when I ride it for long distances. The topper was last week when Leslie and I rode down to Winona. It was the first time that Leslie had ridden on the back of this bike. The trip wasn’t that long, but I got really sore shoulders – it was worse with her on the back then it is solo.

I’m thinking of buying an R1100RT or R1150RT to replace it. Something with a more upright riding position. I’m going to try and wrangle a test drive from some people with these bikes and the boss of a friend of mine has one for sale!

So now, I have to hope someone jumps on my K and buys it.

I’ll be sad to see it go, as I really do like the bike. I think it’s a beautiful machine, but I don’t think it’s the right bike for me anymore (if it ever really was.)

Ah well. I always have a hard time selling a motorcycle. Wish I would just hurry up and win the lottery so I could keep them all… 🙂

Long time no blog

Hmm… It’s been over a week and no blog entries.

I took last week off work and I think I turned on a computer twice.

But I was busy. Some things that happened last week that may turn into later blog entries:

  • Took the kids to language camp for a week – Stephanie to French Camp and Rosalyn to Japanese
  • Then Liz and I stayed in a B & B in Winona on Tuesday night
  • I ran the Minnesota 1000 again on the weekend – had a good time, but only did 320 miles.

So I’ll have to post some more stuff later – and I have a bunch of photos to get up too.

Later.

Gus’ Rally and Party

My friend Gus had a motorcycle (well, scooter – it was open to all bikes 305cc and smaller) rally and party to day to celebrate his being 11,111 days old.

Victor and I were the only participants in the rally, so we rode together. We spent the day riding around Minneapolis and St. Paul, visiting various sites and collecting rally points.

As usual, I didn’t take enough photos during the rally. I took a handful during the party though.

Anyway, here are the photos I did take.

I like the first two. When we stopped at the park and Victor got off the mighty Kimco People 250 scooter and started walking towards the sign, the entire flock of geese and goslings game over to greet him. It looked pretty funny.

Better, Faster, Stronger!

My server, which powers this blog, my web site, several other websites and a bunch of email, is now running on 1 GB of RAM.

We used to run on 512MB, which was barely adequate. The server ran alright, but it was starting to swap. Plus I’ve been adding a bunch of web sites to it and other stuff that is exercising it more.

So I bought a lot of ten 256MB RAM sticks on eBay. I only needed four, so I turned the other six around and sold them again. I hate to say what I paid… Suffice it to say that I ended up paying about $100 for the upgrade.

But, I just listed the four 128MB sticks that I took out, so hopefully they will sell and thus lower the bill even more.

Set the Way-Back Machine to Tuesday

I hate computers.

No, really, I do.

We are playing with some new Wireless Access Points at work here. I have a wireless card (a Hawking HWC54G) and it didn’t seem to want to connect properly.

So I downloaded some new drivers. Which seemed to be missing some files.

Then I told Windows to use it’s wireless config tools instead of the Hawking software.

In any case, I totally horked the wireless drivers.

So I tried to reinstall them. It just hangs.

So I tried to uninstall them – nope, gives me a lame error message.

So, I boot in safe-mode and try to remove the card in the hardware mananger. Windows tells me that it can’t remove it as it is needed to boot the computer. WTF?

Hmm…

Finally I decide to try using a Restore Point. So I restore from a point on Tuesday, before I started all this crap. And wonder of wonders, it works. All is back to the way it was before I started.

But I still can’t connect to the Wireless…
