Finally got around to making an album out of my Minnesota 1000 photos. (I love JAlbum)
There are no captions at this point (and may never be) but there are some good photos. A bunch of old classic bikes stopped off at the finish on their way to the Blind Lizard rally. Some beautiful stuff.
Anyway, here is the album.

Hackaday.com – Very cool web site I got from my neighbor yesterday.
The try to post a new ‘hack’ or link to an hack every day. They range all over the place – from braiding your own speaker cables from Cat 5 cable, to make a battery setup to supply USB power to devices.
We had a yard sale today. It was the neighborhood wide sale today. In other words it was “swap junk with the neighbors” day.
So we put out some junk on the yard.
We didn’t end up selling much. (Not a big surprise, as most of it was junk.) But we did manage to buy more junk from some of the other sales!
I got two good finds. I got a Diamond RIO PMP300 MP3 player for $2.00! I put a batterey in it and away it went! Just have to figure out how to make it read from the Smart Media card (came with a 16MB card) and I can use it!
At the same sale I got a Wacom SD-510C Digitizer tablet for $6.00! It’s a serial device, so I should be able to make it go with my PC. Unfortunately there was no stylus, but I hope to find one on ebay. This tablet sold for $695 in 1991 when it came out. Hmm… Google is not being friendly to finding parts. Well, we’ll see.

Yes, we got two black kittens. They are almost identical. But they have different dispositions right now.
I had a lightning strike at my house at 6:10am Friday morning that fried my DSL modem.
The Qwest tech came out today (yes, on Saturday) and tested the line. Then he said “I have some DSL modems in my truck, want one?”
I asked “What’s it going to cost me?”
He said “Nothing, they are just some customer returns that I tested and they work.”
Well I’ll be damned. (Most likely.) A helpful Qwest tech!
So we are back now on a FREE new DSL modem.
Every once in a while, you have to hop into the way-back machine.

It’s a group of friends in my dining room on New Years Eve around 1991 or so. (I don’t have a firm date.)

I still see most of them once in a while, some more than others.

Update: I’ve been told that this is a photo from Feburary 1991 and was taken during a friend’s wedding.
I love film photography. There is such cool stuff you can do with it. I especially love black and white photography.
I learned how to do black and white developing and printing in high school (how long ago? 1980!) and I still think it’s cool. I’d love to setup a darkroom and play with it some more.

Resonata is a very cool app to demonstrate wave functions.
This is a spring system, designed to demonstrate many of the universal features of waves. Have a play around!
This is how it works: A series of weights are linked together, so that each is pulled towards its nearest neighbours. This allows waves of motion to travel along the chain. A driving force is applied to one weight, which produces such a wave. Clicking in the display area pulls the nearest weight towards the cursor. When you release the cursor, it twangs back.
Don’t play with it if you are on acid!
