I like to cook. I like to eat sushi. So, why don’t I make my own sushi?
Well, up until now, I thought it was hard. It’s not.
A couple of weeks ago there was a sushi making kit on Woot for $9.99. So I bought one. It arrived yesterday, so on the way home I stopped at the local oriental grocery store.
If you are going to make sushi, make sure you find an oriental store to buy your supplies. At my local coop they sell 7 sheets of nori (the seaweed wrapper) for $5.49. At the oriental grocery store it’s 10 sheets for $1.49. You tell me what’s the better deal.
So I bought some nori, some wasabi powder, some rice and some crab sticks.
Then I made some delicious sushi! It was easy!
The wasabi power I bought was really strong – Wow! That’s some good stuff.
Wish I had thought to take some photos – oh well, next time. I can’t wait to make some more and find all kinds of good stuff to put inside.
I bought some for lunch today. Wish it was time to eat already. Num.
I decided to take the plunge and reinstall my laptop. I needed to do this for a few reasons that I’m not going to go into here.
So I made a 4GB partition to install Windows XP Pro into and did that.
Now, after running Windows Update at least six times – and finding new updates that I needed to apply each time – my 4GB partition is FULL!
Whisky – Tango – Foxtrot, Over?
4GB for nothing but the OS? Can you say BLOATED? I knew you could.
Sooo.. Now I have to find my copy of Partition Magic that works on XP and make the partition bigger. And I’ll be running the Add/Remove programs tool and stripping down Windows.
But 4GB? All I can do is shake my head.
More DRM goodness.
Sony CDs that are copy protected install software on your Windows box that limits what you can do with the CD. Besides the fact that this is a violation of copyright law and an intrusion in to your computer by unwanted software, the software that is installed is effectivly a root kit.
It installs itself, it hides itself, it hooks itself into the OS and when you try to remove it, it breaks your OS so you have to reinstall the OS in order to play CDs again. Sounds like a root kit to me.
Mark Russinovich at SysInternals has the full, gory details.
This is a hilarious ad for Carlton Draft beer.
It’s a big ad.
I’ve been having fun following the links from the old entries on the Paperforest blog and I just found the 3D Paper Model Studio site full of free paper models.
Plus it’s got Engrish on it!
3D Paper Model Studio- A group of paper model lovers in Taiwan, We knew each other in 3D Paper Model Net, A special chance we got a case of paper model design ordered by Hongkong HP, we were pressed to design 20 models in 2 months, wow! many friends warning us that’s a mission impossible, but finally we done it. When we finished the case, we all agree to share the workings with people on pubilc…, that’s a hard work to introduce us in English, but we believe pictures can say more. If you like our working, do’nt cheap to arouse us. We will create more good paper models in future.
More good stuff on the 3D Paper Model Net site – in Taiwanese…
Oh yeah, I’d forgotten all about Web Rings. Well, here is the Paper Model Web Ring – 100’s of free models.
Just what I need, a new hobby.
Now why didn’t I think of this?
This 21 year old kid in England put up a web site and is selling “pixels” on it for one dollar each. He made the page size so that it had 1,000,000 pixels and sells them in a minimum block of 10 x 10.
So far he has sold 513,400 of them! That’s over a half a million dollars!
What an interesting idea.
I sent the link to the Found Photos site to my cousin and she sent it to a photographer friend of hers. The photographer replied and sent a link to the Kodak Girl site – a site with vintage Kodak advertisements.
I really like old advertising and this has some nice stuff on it.
Here is a blog all about papercraft – lots of good links to stuff. I’m going to have to spend some time exploring this one.
This is something that I’m willing to bet isn’t going to happen with digital cameras.
Here is a website of photographs taken from undeveloped film that the web site owner found in old cameras in junk shops and such.
This means that the photographer never even saw these images.
An interesting collection of photos.
