Wood!

A good friend of mine had some maple trees taken down a while ago and he offered me the logs.

Yesterday, with a 112 degree heat index, a friend and I loaded them up and took them to a sawmill.

The logs were stacked in the wooded area between his house and a neighbor.
This hitch mounted winch was definitely the way to go. We had a come-along also, but it would have taken all day just to get loaded up with that.
We took the best four of the pile. My friend told me they were about seven feet long so I rented a 5×8 trailer. They were all slightly over eight feet, and one was nine feet. We made it work.
We took them to a mill just South of Mankato, MN.
They turned into some pretty nice lumber.
Here’s the full load.
We took it home and stacked and stickered it. I need to get some more roofing to cover it with, that will happen tomorrow. In about a year I should be able to start making stuff with it.

We started at 8:00 AM and finished stacking about 6:30 PM. Man it was hot.
