On Wednesday we took the van into the shop again to get the ABS fixed again.
A little background: The ABS pump in our van has a recall on it. But they don’t install a redesigned pump, they just install another one. This pump failed on our way back from Montana last summer. We had it replaced under recall (for free.) Then it failed again. They replaced it again. Now it is acting up again.
So anyway, the shop has had the van since Wednesday (when we had an appointment.) When I called them on Thursday they were waiting for a part. There wasn’t one in the state. Hmm.. They were closed on Friday.
Now it’s Monday afternoon and I call to see what’s up.
Now they are telling me that they are not going to fix it since there are “no active faults” in the computer.
WTF? The damned ABS lights have come on at least twice that I can recall. This is a safety issue too. When the pump fails the brakes are really hard. There is no power assist when this happens. This damned van weighs 4300 lbs and is really hard to stop with no power assist.
I am now waiting for the service manager to call me. Arrrggghhhh.
